Bagwal fair is very curious fair, where people who’s known as Bagwal in two groups throw stone at each other

This time they try to protect themselves with the help of wooden shields. In this stone fight Bagwal (who participant in the fight) don’t care about the injuries. No one had been loss of his life during this stone fight till Today. But after 2013 in place of stone use flower and fruit. Bagwal fair is also known as Brother-Sister fair. Bagwal is State fair of Uttarakhand.

While the families across the rest of the country observed Rakshabandhan, in the village of Devidhura in Champawat district, 110 km from here, a rather strange festival was conducted. 'Bagwal', which sees stone-pelting between groups of men around a temple, occasionally causes injuries, and residents are gradually easing out of the ritual.

The other theory is historical. In the erstwhile princely state, there were two prominent groups in the king's court, Mahar and Fartiyal. "Bagwal was played between both groups and whoever won would get the right to collect revenue for that year," adds Joshi.
